  Administrative Justice:
Practice & Procedure for
Decision Makers in Regulatory Agencies

This version of the basic course is adapted for decision-makers at professional regulatory tribunals. Professional regulation is expanding in British Columbia. Many previously unregulated professions, mostly in the health sector, have been granted the privilege of self-regulation.

Additionally, quasi-governmental agencies, such as the Office of the Ombudsman, encourage tribunals to provide written reasons and decisions for all decisions, and more decisions are being appealed to the Courts. There is a substantial need for basic administrative legal education on an ongoing basis for this sector.

The course consists of four sessions delivered over two days. The sessions include: Administrative Law and Principles of Natural Justice, Role of an Investigation in Tribunal Proceedings, Conducting a Fair Hearing and Evaluating Evidence, Decision Making and Decision Writing.

Courses are approved as continuing education for members of the bar in completing the Annual Report to the Law Society of BC.
To register for this course, please call the VCC Centre for Continuing Studies at 604-443-8428 or 604-443-8416.
