The British
Columbia Council of Administrative Tribunals sponsors and carries
out research and educational programs related to all aspects
of adminstrative law. Programs and sponsorship include:
- An
annual conference on administrative justice issues;
- A
two day course - Practice and Procedure for Decision Makers
- for new tribunal members;
- A
two day course on hearing skills for tribunal members;
- A
two day advanced decision writing workshop;
- Seminars
featuring keynote speakers on challenges facing tribunal decision
makers; and
- Research
and analysis on issues of common concern to members, including
conflict of interest and conduct guidelines; the role and
implementation of alternative dispute resolution in tribunals;
and the independence and accountability of tribunals.
Members
receive discounts on courses and course materials.
The
Council also produces a Membership Directory and a Newsletter,
and provides for an active and progressive committee structure
with membership involvement.
